In March, MHCO welcomed the new Director of Mennonite Home Health and Senior Services, Sonia Irvin to the team. Irvin is a Registered Nurse, Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, and holds her B.A. in Organizational Management from Bluffton University. With both nursing and management experience in settings such as skilled nursing, assisted living, and physicians’ offices, she is well versed in the complete continuum of care that MHCO’s clients navigate.
When asked what attracted her to the position of Director of Mennonite Home Health and Senior Services, Irvin was quick to indicate that she sees this as a new challenge. As a nurse, she has held positions ranging from Charge Nurse to Director of Nursing to Regional Director of Clinical Operations at long-term care communities. This eventually led to positions as Administrator of Assisted Living communities and skilled nursing centers. The common thread through all of her experiences is her love for caring for older adults. She felt MHCO was a natural fit, since the organization’s values and mission align with her own. When asked what she looked forward to the most, she stated, “I look forward to the opportunity to help area seniors stay healthy and at home for as long as possible!”
While originally from Lima, Sonia already has connections to Bluffton from her time as a student at Bluffton University. For the past 7 years, she has lived in Cridersville, and is married to her husband Bill, who works at Joint Systems Manufacturing Center as a Tool Maker. They have two children – Brandy and Erin. Her hobbies include travel, stating “I love it anywhere there is a warm climate – some of my favorite trips were to Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.” She also enjoys bowling on leagues at the Norada Lanes in Ada, and likes to bargain shop.
MHCO is excited to have Sonia as a member of the team, as she brings considerable talent, experience and passion to the work she does. Welcome, Sonia!
