For many of those residing in senior living communities across the country, it has been far too long since their last face to face visit with family, friends and loved ones. MHCO has established a plan to open in-person outdoor visitation to all campuses beginning next week. External factors such as case status in the surrounding community will continue to be considered when establishing visitation guidelines going forward. Outdoor visitation was previously allowed in MHCO Assisted Living communities on June 8th, and then rescinded in July when community spread was more prevalent in the area.
MHCO has been carefully considering all implications for our elders’ physical and mental well-being when determining when to allow outdoor visitation to residents. Guidelines have been established for outdoor visitation at all of the MHCO Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing Facility campuses. Maple Crest visitation will begin Monday, August 17th, while all other campuses will begin on Tuesday, August 18th.
Some additional clarifying information from the most recent Director’s Order on this subject:
- Visitation inside all of our buildings is still prohibited, except for end of life situations.
- Due to CDC guidance discouraging use of masks on children under the age of two, all visitors shall be over the age of two.
- No more than three visitors shall be permitted per resident per visit.
- If you are experiencing any unusual signs or symptoms, however slight, we ask that you postpone your visit and schedule once you ensure there are no health related concerns.
While each campus’ guidelines will be slightly different to accommodate differences in schedules, staff, and building layouts, all will require visits to be scheduled in advance during specific times, participants to be wearing masks at all times, use of hand sanitizer prior to visits and the practice of social distancing.
