As a nonprofit retirement community, our mission is our bottom line.

One of the core values of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) is relationship through community. We are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting and celebrating our elders.

Our non-profit status allows us to dedicate our human and financial resources to a different set of investors: our residents. That means our resources are always returned to our communities. Our bottom line isn’t a corporate bottom line. Our bottom line is about our people. This allows us to remain a pioneer in the care we provide seniors.

For nearly 60 years, we have been the senior housing and health care provider of choice in the Bluffton and Pandora areas. MHCO provides independent living, assisted living, long-term care and short term rehab at our four area campuses. We also bring compassionate clinical care and support services to area seniors who wish to remain in their homes.

Word of mouth continues to be the primary way new residents come to one of our four communities – Mennonite Memorial Home, Maple Crest, Hilty Home and Willow Ridge. As a senior care provider, we consider this the ultimate compliment.

Our Story

Our story begins in 1955. Bluffton area Mennonite churches had a vision of serving God by providing comfortable housing and compassionate care for the elderly. The founders envisioned a Christian home where the elderly could live a joyous, rich and full life. This longstanding tradition is still faithfully followed today and is the foundation of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.

Spiritual Care at MHCO

At MHCO, we are committed to caring for the whole person. This includes supporting the spiritual values and faith traditions of the elders living with us. Weekly worship opportunities and Bible studies are provided at all our communities by local pastors and lay leaders.

Our Core Values

We are dedicated to nurturing the sense of family that flourishes among our staff, residents, clients and volunteers. We value the support of our churches and community. These foundational relationships are a sacred trust, and we are devoted to preserving that trust in everything we do.

We seek to honor God as we demonstrate a Christ-like love and compassion to all touched by our ministry of continuing care. Each individual member of our family is unique, worthy of respect and gentle consideration.

We believe that true quality of life includes opportunities for life enrichment through meaningful activity, friendships, fun and personal decision making. We affirm each person’s unique gifts and talents, and we endeavor to create an atmosphere where each has opportunity to maximize his or her potential.

As a not-for-profit, mission-driven organization, we are devoted to responsible management of the financial, human and natural resources entrusted to us with transparency, benevolence and honesty. We are committed to being trustworthy and honorable in our actions.

We are dedicated to continuing our long tradition of progressive care and services designed to meet the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of each generation. Through our ministry, we desire to offer superior and distinctive services and environments, which exceed expectations and glorify God.
