After much thoughtful consideration, conversation and prayer the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) Board of Directors has announced plans for the closing of the Hilty Home Skilled Nursing & Assisted Living services in Pandora by the end of the year. For the foreseeable future the Hilty Pre-school and Childcare and Independent Living services will continue to be operated by MHCO at the Hilty location.
Hilty Home has provided excellent and loving care consistent with its mission since 1979. However, the ongoing financial, census and workforce challenges experienced at Hilty, magnified by the impact of the pandemic became unsustainable. Elizabeth Kelly, MHCO Board Chair said: “We care about the well-being of everyone at Hilty. The staff, residents and families are our family, neighbors and friends which made this a very difficult decision to make. As we wind down these services, we are guided by our values of Integrity and Relationship through Care. We are committed to ensuring as smooth a transition as possible for the Hilty residents and staff.”
MHCO plans to offer all employees at Hilty a position throughout the facilities in Bluffton. Many of the residents will also have the opportunity to move to another MHCO campus and if not, a dedicated transition team will assist in finding appropriate placement throughout the area.
Kelly concluded: “Our commitment remains the same, to continue exceptional services to Allen and Putnam counites as well as the surrounding areas through our campuses at Mennonite Memorial Home, Willow Ridge, and Maple Crest in Bluffton.”
