Brighter Lives Annual Campaign

The Brighter Lives Annual Campaign has become an important source of funds that support projects, activities and programs that enhance the lives of the elders and children who are part of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.  Over $213,000 has been contributed to Brighter Lives since 2016.  Some of the funds have been used to:

  • Purchase furniture and equipment to complete renovations at Mennonite Memorial Home
  • Renovate the Special Needs Unit at Hilty Home
  • Provide an Education Fund for staff to attend workshops and conferences that expand their knowledge and skills regarding person-centered care
  • Support benevolent care needs of elders who have no other source of funds

In November, 2015 the MHCO Board of Directors approved a goal of growing the Endowment Fund for Benevolent Care to $2,000,000 by 2025.  The endowment Fund is currently $421,000.  Income from the Endowment Fund will:

  • Assist in covering the cost of care for MHCO clients without the ability to pay privately and without access to other sources of support, and
  • Assist in covering the cost of items or services that will improve the quality of life for elders when all other sources of support have been exhausted.

The 2017 Brighter Lives Annual Campaign goal is $85,000 which includes:

  • $65,000 for the MHCO General Fund
  • $20,000 for the Endowment Fund for Benevolent Care

MHCO General Fund Support will provide landscaping and sidwalk improvements at Mennonite Meorial Home and Hilty Home.  Additional funds will allow for improvements for the child care program at Hilty Home.  Maple Crest will make some improvements on the lower level as they modify one room into a much-needed hair salon.
