Creating Brighter Lives at MHCO

When donating to Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, you are positively impacting the lives of our residents and staff.

MHCO is a non-profit retirement community that offers multiple services to its’ residents. Each year there is an annual campaign called Brighter Lives that is centered around improving the lives of our residents and staff.

Brighter Lives Campaign

The Brighter Lives Annual Campaign is an important source of funds that support capital projects, activities and programs that enhance the lives of the elders and children who are part of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio. Over $177,000 has been contributed to Brighter Lives since 2014.

Your support of the Brighter Live Annual Campaign allows many improvements to our retirement community to be possible.

The Brighter Lives goal is $85,000 in 2017, which includes $65,000 for general support of MHCO or special projects and $20,000 for Benevolent Care and Endowment. Both programs go toward the daily shortfall for elders with financial need.

The MHCO board of directors established a significant goal to grow the Endowment Fund to $2 million by 2025. This is important in order to maintain and sustain MHCO’s highly favored senior housing reputation.

What Your Charitable Donation Covers

Your charitable donations to our non-profit retirement community go toward:

  • Supporting the benevolent care fund, which helps cover the cost of care for clients without the ability to pay privately and without access to other sources of funds.
  • Making 2018 special projects possible, including a long-awaited hair salon at Maple Crest and landscaping and childcare improvements at Hilty Home.
  • Providing an Education Fund for staff to attend workshops and conferences that expand their knowledge and skills regarding person-centered care.
  • Renovating the Special Needs Unit at Hilty Home.
  • Allowing MHCO to maintain its traditional staff to elder ratio, which exceeds many for-profit-providers.

Our residents family, friends and staff our very appreciative of the funds donated to make our non-profit senior communities top-notch.

Making Brighter Lives

Here are some of the many thanks we have received for the improvements we have been able to make due to the Bright Lives Annual Campaign. All of these wonderful things for our residents are because of our donors.

“Dear Frieda House Staff, Just a little note to bring the warmest thanks for everything. Most especially for your extra effort in observing my 92nd birthday. It’s one of the many ways you make this home rather than an institution. Peter and I very much appreciate all those seemingly small, unnoticed caring things. May God bless your thoughtfulness.” — Mother of Frieda House resident, Geraldine Basinger DeMeo

“Dear Hilty Home, Thank you for all you have done to give such good care and compassion to my mother, Grace. She was so grateful your staff was there for her. God Bless your amazing work you provide for your residents.” — Daughter of Hilty Home elder, Barbara Messina

“Dear Maple Crest Home, “Thank you for providing an outlet for the residents to share their fabulous art!” — Kathy Lockard, daughter of MC elder, Larry Burkhalter

Our residents and staff truly appreciate the donations made to MHCO. We are thankful for all of the quality of life improvements that we are able to make because of our donors.
