MHCO Service Group members Gloria Bucher (left) and Elaine Bauman tally up the tickets sold for the BBQ fundraiser. The BBQ was held last Saturday (April 24) to purchase a new handicap accessible van for medical transport and family visits. The BBQ was a success, with over $2,200 being raised for the worthy cause.
This has been the second BBQ fundraiser held by the Service Group to support MHCO in the purchase of a new van. Service Group members are participants in local community churches, which has faithfully served elders and MHCO team members for the past 65 years. Gifts from the BBQ sale and other designated gifts made to MHCO over the past year from individuals and area churches and businesses will help purchase a new van in the coming weeks. The new van will be a rear entry model, which will accommodate elders using a wider wheelchair or power chair. While the van will primarily be used to help elders attend medical appointments, families will also be able to request it to take their loved one out on a local excursion or family gathering that otherwise would not be possible. A shout out to Bubbas BBQ and Bluffton University volunteers/Student Senate members who helped make this a success!
