Surveillance Testing FAQ’s

Since yesterday’s COVID-19 surveillance testing was completed, we’ve been receiving questions about next steps.  Here are some answers to your frequently asked questions;

Q: How did testing work?

A:   Testing took place from 10 am until 4 pm on May 12th.  120 residents and 181 employees were tested.  Residents and staff that were in the buildings during this time were tested on-site.  Staff not working were tested off site at the Centre at Bluffton.  As this surveillance testing was organized over a short 48-hour window, any staff that weren’t able to participate in yesterday’s testing due to short notice are able to re-schedule.

Q:  When will results be returned?

A:  While result times can vary depending on the lab and other factors, we’ve usually been seeing a 48-72 hour turnaround time.

Q:  How will I know the results of my test?

A:  Results will be sent back to MHCO.  Once results are received, positive results will be communicated with those residents (or responsible parties) and staff who tested positive by a phone call. After positive results have been communicated, a one-call now notification will be sent out to everyone indicating that if they have not received a positive result notification, then they or their loved one tested negative for COVID-19.
